T-Rex: In the 1920s, the future of machine vending was robots standing behind counters or driving door to door, selling as humans did with brilliant machine efficiency!
T-Rex: But then we got vending machines, which are just safes filled with chips or pop!
T-Rex: And yes it's disappointing, but it's also ECONOMICAL. It's easier, cheaper, safer, AND more reliable to have a simple machine that does the job well than it is to have a complicated machine that does it fancy. This is also the reason roads are built by many pieces of equipment working in tandem and not, as once envisioned, by a giant slug-like machine that clears land beneath its colossal body, leaving only pristine paved roads!
Utahraptor: But it sure is pleasant to think about, huh?
T-Rex: Oh, it rules!!
T-Rex: You can just see these road-building behemoths slowly moving out from cities, munching into wilderness and trailing civilization behind them. But it'll NEVER be the cheapest or easiest way to do it! Failing, of course, for a complete reorganization of our economic system.
