Anyway before you freak out about beaver butt juice (it's called "castoreum") REST ASSURED it's not used in food as often as real vanilla, because to get it you have to milk the beaver's glands and who has time for that? NOT ME. ANYMORE. And we've got more vanilla infrastructure already built than we do beaver-milking infrastructure. While it can AND IS used in food it's actually used more often in perfume, but no surprises there because as I understand it perfume is mostly animal juice, just beavers and whales all the way down??
